C25K: W2D3

I finished the second week of the C25k program today. After struggling through week one and two a few weeks ago, I restarted last week along with my wife. So I've been consistently doing it for a month now, but am only finishing week two. I don't know if I'm ready for week three, but I guess I'll find out Monday.

On days I don't run I've been doing a variety of other things to burn calories: Kinect sports, Dance Central, circuit training, even did a biggest loser workout video a couple times. I've also been much more active in general. Tossing the football with the kids, getting out of the house and doing things on Saturdays rather than vegging on the TV or computer all day.

I've even spent some hours playing Guitar Hero -- but now I make myself stay on my feet the whole time I play. Believe me, you can burn a lot of calories playing Guitar Hero. If you think Angus Young looks goofy on stage, you should see me in my living room with my plastic guitar. (In your dreams.)

I've also been eating well. In fact, I'm probably eating more than I was before, but I've cut out the junk food and milk so I'm actually eating fewer calories.

As a result of the exercise and healthy eating, I'm down about 17 pounds from the beginning of last month -- 11 pounds since we made the cruise/Hawaii deal with the kids. My wife is doing well too. That makes me happy. She is hoping to hit the 10 pound mark within the next week or so. Then, we get to take the kids roller skating.

So far, so good.
